Girls with SWAG:
Eyeliner, leather and snarls seem to have taken over recently, bringing a much needed surge of girl power amongst the hoards of recent Take That-esque male dominance. Gone are the peace signs, pink and sugar coated attempts at feminism…instead women are showing that we can do it better than the boys, not only that but we can do it in 6 inch heels without smudging our Illamasqua Pristine.
At the forefront of this has got to be Jessie J (can we just have a moment of appreciation for those amazing studded lips?), whose incredible presence gives a well groomed two fingers up to any man who dares to challenge her. Not only does she look and dance like a sex goddess, but her powerful voice and general fierceness makes for an excellent listen as well.
Say what you want about Cher Lloyd, you cannot deny that this is a brilliant performance and the girl’s got swagger through the roof, I mean it takes a certain talent to pull off those jeans…
With parents like Willow’s, she was never going to be anything less than a star, although I don’t think anyone thought that a TEN year old could come out with something like this. This song came on at a hazy night out at Punk a few days ago and I’ve never seen a room of adults whip their hair with such vigour.
Grunge meets glam:
A surge of dark colours teamed with edgy jewellery has taken over the glossies recently, something which I very much welcome. From liquid black eye gels to nail makeovers, it’s all about grunge meets glam at the moment.
1. Bijules
Ex-DJ Jules Kim combines art and sculpture into her incredible designs, seen on the likes of Karen O, Lindsey Lohan, Fergie and Rihanna. They are available at Urban Outfitters, and you can view pieces on http://www.bijulesnyc.com.
This Serpent ring fits on one finger and slithers across two….
Need I say more?
Cubic zirconium studded barrel mmm.
2. Nail Bling
What better a way to decorate your perfectly painted dark blue/green/purple/red/black nails than with a bit of bling? Christmas is all about excess after all…
Nail Technician to the stars, Andrea Fulerton’s range of nail tattoos are the perfect accessory…
We <3 the 80s:
Nobody has ever done a movie better than John Hughes. It’s just a fact. He brought awkward teen romance, mismatched friendships and patterned leggings into our lives, influencing movies, music and trends for years to come. Whilst nowadays a majority of the Brat Pack spend their time doing various cameos, there was once a day when they ruled Hollywood, and, despite me not actually being born until after those days, they were the best acting pack to ever form.
